Helping Hands Knitting Aid
The knitting aid holds your needles and supports your hands and wrists whilst you knit.
With sharp scissors, I got into the packaging easily. There are three sections to open though, which could be fiddly.
The knitting aid comes with brief instructions and four different sized beads which fit needles between 3.25mm and 6mm. I find it easier to grip larger needles so I would buy the beads that work on needles up to 18mm.
To use the aid, you slide your needles through the correct sized beads, pop these into the knitting aid, cast on and you're off. Once you have finished one row, you flip the aid over and carry on. It sat very comfortably on my lap, though its not particularly lightweight.
I have long arms and found myself at times stretching over the aid. It's worth spending some time getting the most comfortable position, It takes quite a bit of getting used to and feels really unnatural at first but I found adjusting the screws allows the needles to move more freely.
I really felt the benefit of the aid when the fabric got heavy and i didn't get any tingling in my arms or hands at all after i had stopped, which I was really pleased about.
You can buy a lot of yarn for £49.95 so the aid seems quite expensive - but I'd pay it. If it enables you to carry on doing what you love it's definitely worth it.
